丁子染め Dyeing with clove
5月9日土曜日、丁子染めの染色教室をひらく予定。
丁子は、釘の形に似ているので「丁子」と表記される。
熱帯常緑高木の蕾を乾燥させたものである。
平安時代の王朝文学にもその名が見える。
強い芳香と防腐効果を持つことから、古来生薬や香辛料として用いられた。
媒染の違いにより、黒、モスグリーン、茶の色相を得る。
日光堅牢度は、きわめて良好。
We will hold dyeing class for clove on 9 May Saturday.
Clove so resembles nail that it is written " 丁子”（cyoji means nail).
Clove is dried buds of tropical evergreen tree .
Clove can be seen in court literature written in Heian period.
It have so strong fragrance and preservative that bas been used for herb medicine or spice from ancient time.
Black , moss green,and brown colors will be gained depending on each mordants.
It has best sun-proof fastness .
